  • About

The Carmel Youth Center's mission is to nurture the potential of every child, to provide enrichment programming designed to enhance their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in a safe environment. The CYC was founded in 1949 as a California 501(c) (3) non-profit youth recreation center. Although entertainer Bing Crosby was the guiding force behind the formation of the CYC, many community members actively participated in the organization and construction of the Center and have continued to participate as volunteers, board members, and cheerleaders of the CYC throughout the years. Bing Crosby founded the Center while he was living in Pebble Beach, and eventually helped form over two hundred private, non-profit youth centers. Of those 200 centers, the Carmel Youth Center is the only one remaining.
