Event Description:

Smart Shorts, Monterey County?s first film festival dedicated to cell phones and tablets, is seeking innovative film submissions April 15th through July 31, 2019. Sponsored by the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts, Smart Shorts encourages Monterey County filmmakers ages 12 and up to express and share their lives through films created on smartphones and tablets.

This first-time festival prompts Monterey County residents to create a ground-breaking short film ? 1 to 5 minutes in length ? shot exclusively on a smart phone or tablet. Films can be submitted through FilmFreeway.com (link below), an online submission platform.

All genres are welcome. Finalists? films will be screened and awards presented September 13th and 14th at the Carl Cherry Center in Carmel. This program is sponsored, in part, through donations from MCGives! and the Arts Council for Monterey County, Smart Shorts seeks to stir and inspire local filmmakers to express their creativity and perspective on this easily accessible digital medium.
