Gallery Sur, in partnership with Middlebury institute of International Studies, invites the public to a vibrant cultural event featuring a live stone sculpting demonstration with acclaimed artist Moses Nyanhongo of Zimbabwe at Gallery Sur on 6th & Dolores in Carmel from 10AM until 3PM on Sunday, September 29th.
The transformative effect of art speaks to the very core of the Middlebury Institute's goal to expand our perceptions by improving intercultural competence. Gallery Sur and the Middlebury Committee of Art in Public Places invite our entire community to experience the beauty of Shona stone sculpture, an emotional expression of the unique socio-cultural identity of the Zimbabwean people, which reminds us all there is more that binds us together than separates us.
In addition to the demonstrations, Gallery Sur exhibits a collection of fine art sculptures by the premier Shona stone sculptors of Zimbabwe, including Moses Nyanhongo, using the multi-colored indigenous stones of their country.
Zimbabwean sculpture, music, food and warm hospitality will be enjoyed by all!
