Name: Carmel Foundation Wednesday Program: The Fiber-Gut Connection: A Foundation for Optimal Health
Date: July 30, 2025
Time: 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM PDT
Event Description:
Discover the powerful role fiber plays in supporting overall health. This presentation explores how dietary fiber not only aids digestion but also helps regulate blood sugar levels, lower cholesterol, and reduce the risk of certain cancers. We’ll also examine emerging research linking fiber intake to autoimmune disease prevention and improved immune function. Join us to learn how this often-overlooked nutrient can be a key player in long-term wellness. This program is presented by Dorothy Tenney, PhD. She completed her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of California, Davis. Her doctoral thesis examined how various dietary fibers alter the gut microbiota and how this in turn impacts host health, with an emphasis on obesity and chronic kidney disease. In 2018, Dr. Tenney joined Pacific Cancer Care where she spearheaded the creation of the Health Coach Program.
